EIFS Stucco Systems
EIFS stucco systems combine insulation and a finished wall surface in one. The full system includes a water-resistant barrier, a foam insulation board, a glass-fibre reinforced mesh, and a textured finish coat on top. The foam layer helps reduce heat loss in winter and keeps the inside cooler in summer.
For local homes, especially in Terwillegar Towne where many properties were built in the late 1990s and early 2000s, EIFS is a strong choice. It adds comfort, cuts down on drafts, and gives you a clean, modern look with plenty of colour and texture options.
Cement Board Stucco Systems
Cement board stucco systems give your home a tough, impact-resistant finish. The core is built from Portland cement, aggregate, and glass mesh. Therefore, its surface withstands hail, wind, and day-to-day wear.
Cement board does not add as much insulation as EIFS. But if your walls are already well-insulated, it is often a faster and more affordable way to achieve a strong, durable finish that will last for years.
Stucco Repair and Removal Near You
Stucco repair and removal are part of our regular workload.
Over time, even well-installed stucco develops cracks, fades, or pulls away from the wall.
For surface issues, we repair cracks, patch, refinish, and match the texture to ensure a clean blend. For bigger problems, we take the old system down to the substrate. That lets us check what is underneath, repair any damage, and install a new system that will protect your home for decades.
When to Demolish vs When to Repair Stucco
Not every crack means you need to tear off your whole wall. But some problems run deeper than they look. Here is how to tell which path fits your home.
Repair is the right call when you see:
- Thin hairline cracks, smaller than 1/16 of an inch
- Spider-web cracks that are only on the surface
- Small chips or dings from a bump or hail
- One small stain that has not spread
- Damage in one area, with the rest of the wall in good shape
- Loose caulking around a window or door
- A small patch of flaking parging
- Minor colour fade that can be fixed with paint
- Stucco is under 15 years old and otherwise healthy
Full demolition and replacement is the best option when you see:
- Deep cracks that keep growing
- Cracks on many walls at once
- Bulging or sagging stucco that is pulling away from the wall
- Multiple soft spots you can press in with your hand
- Dark stains do not dry out after a week of sunny weather
- Bubbles or blisters along the bottom of the wall
- Mould, mildew, or a musty smell near the wall inside your home
- Soft drywall inside the house
- White powdery build-up on the surface, called efflorescence
- Stucco that is more than 40 years old
- A past repair that failed and came back within a year
- Water stains on interior ceilings or walls next to the exterior
- Rot on the wood trim, soffits, or window frames
- Damage from a major event like a fire, flood, or impact
When in doubt, book an inspection. We will check the wall and give you an honest answer.
Stucco for Terwillegar Businesses
Stucco for local businesses takes a different approach than residential work. Commercial properties along 23 Avenue or near the Community Recreation Centre have tighter schedules and more moving parts.
Our crew handles commercial stucco and exterior services for shops, offices, multi-unit buildings, and other business properties across the area. We plan the work around your operating hours so your business keeps running.
Our Other Services
Beyond stucco, our crew handles other exterior work that often goes hand in hand with a stucco project. That lets Terwillegar homeowners update the entire exterior with a single crew instead of hiring multiple contractors.
Parging
Parging is a thin layer of cement applied to your foundation wall. It protects the concrete from moisture and gives the base of your home a clean, finished look.
Many local homes have a strip of exposed foundation between the lawn and the siding. If that area is cracked, peeling, or flaking, parging restores both its appearance and its protection.
Stonework and Masonry
Stone and brick add a timeless, high-end look to a property. We install new stone veneers, fix old brickwork, and repoint failing mortar joints. Our masonry withstands freeze-thaw cycles because we use the right mortar mix, proper flashing, and solid drainage from the first course.
Retrofitting
Retrofitting means updating your existing exterior without ripping it all off. We can apply a fresh finish over a sound stucco wall, fix trouble spots, and repaint where needed. This saves money and time compared to a full tear-off.
For Terwillegar Towne homes that have started to show their age, retrofitting is a smart way to refresh the look and bring the exterior closer to newer builds without a full rebuild.
Caulking
Caulking seals the joints where walls meet windows, doors, and trim. Good caulking keeps water and cold air out. It also cuts drafts and can lower your heating bill during long winters.
We use caulking made for Alberta’s temperature swings, which range from below -30°C in winter to well over +25°C in summer. That means the seal stays flexible and keeps working year after year.

About Terwillegar, AB
Terwillegar is a residential area in Southwest Edmonton. It is made up of several sub-neighbourhoods, including Terwillegar Towne, South Terwillegar, Magrath Heights, and Mactaggart. The area was established in 1992, and most residential construction in Terwillegar Towne started after 1995.
The community is named after Dr. Norman L. Terwillegar, a local surgeon and pioneer who practiced medicine in the Edmonton area from 1912 to 1947. Terwillegar Towne was the first community in Edmonton to be planned using a neo-traditional, New Urbanism design model. That shows up in the street layout, the central Towne Square, and homes placed close to the sidewalk to create a stronger sense of community.
Residents enjoy easy access to the Community Recreation Centre, Park, the Whitemud Creek Ravine, and the river valley trails. Shopping sits close by at the Shopping Centre and Currents of Windermere.
Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Terwillegar different from other Southwest Edmonton neighbourhoods?
Terwillegar stands out for two reasons. First, Terwillegar Towne is the first New Urbanism community in Edmonton, which gives the area a unique street layout and a Towne Square at its centre. Second, the Community Recreation Centre and direct access to the river valley trails are rare in one place.
Why is stucco popular on local homes?
Many local homes, especially in Terwillegar Towne, were built in the late 1990s and early 2000s with stucco as the standard finish. It fits the community’s neo-traditional design, handles Edmonton’s weather well, and can be refreshed or recoated later without a full exterior rebuild.
How long does a stucco job take?
Timelines depend on the size of the home and the scope of the work. A small repair might take a day or two. A full new stucco system on an average single-family home often takes one to three weeks, depending on weather, prep work, and the system chosen.
Will stucco match the style of my home?
Yes. Both EIFS and cement board systems come in a wide range of colours and textures. We can match the look of existing homes on your block or update the finish to a fresh style that still fits the neighbourhood.
Can you do stucco work in Edmonton winters?
Most new stucco installations need temperatures above freezing, so the main installation season runs from spring through late fall. Smaller indoor or protected repairs can sometimes happen in winter. We will tell you honestly what is safe to schedule and when.
