Proudly Serving River Valley Walterdale Edmonton AB

Walterdale is a former industrial and residential neighbourhood in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, within the North Saskatchewan River valley. It is located on the river’s south shore in an area now occupied by Kinsmen Park within a river valley neighbourhood named River Valley Walterdale.

The neighbourhood was named for John Walter, who, in 1875, was the first person to construct a house on the south side of the river opposite Fort Edmonton and later became a prominent businessman and local politician. With the numerous businesses he established in the area, the Walterdale neighbourhood eventually built up around his original residence in part of what eventually became Strathcona.

FAQS

The Edmonton River Valley Trail system spans over 160 kilometres, making it Canada’s largest urban parkland network.

River Valley Walterdale is a scenic and peaceful area near downtown Edmonton. It offers walkable access to trails, parks, and cultural landmarks, making it attractive for those who value nature and city convenience.

You can pressure wash, but it must be done carefully. Use low pressure (under 600 PSI) and avoid directing water at seams, windows, or cracks. High pressure or poor technique can damage the surface or force water behind the wall.

Birds, rodents, and insects can damage the system if it is not sealed properly. Woodpeckers may peck through the finish, and rodents can chew openings near the base. Sealing all gaps and keeping landscaping trimmed helps prevent this.

It has four main layers: a foam insulation board, adhesive, mesh with a base coat, and a coloured finish. These layers are applied over a solid wall, usually wood or concrete. The foam gives insulation, while the other layers add strength and weather protection.

Blistering often means moisture got trapped behind the surface. This can happen from poor sealing, improper caulking, or power washing at high pressure. Fixing the source of water is more important than patching the surface alone.
